  • Overview

    What you will learn:

    • Explore legal and ethical issues based on ethical framework for counselling and psychotherapy in a multi-cultural and diverse society.
    • Exploring a range of counselling skills and understand which counselling skills are used professionally.
    • Reflect on counselling theory and the use of feedback.
    • Exploring professional conduct, ethical issues, confidentiality, boundaries, legal responsibility and negligence.

    *The course is FREE if:

    • you are unemployed, looking for work and in receipt of an approved benefit.
    • if you are employed and earning less than £25,000 per year, before tax.

    There is also an option to set up a payment plan, to pay in 4 consecutive monthly payments. You could apply for an Advanced Learner Loan for this course, also. Please contact the adult education team today to find out more about the prices of the course.

    Course Duration: 17 weeks (Wednesday class), 34 weeks (Thursday class)

    Times: Wednesday 9.30-12.30 & 13.30-16.30 OR Thursday 17.30-20.30.

  • Entry Requirements

    Level 2 Certificate in Counselling Skills (this had to have been delivered in a classroom-based setting and not as a fast track online course).

  • How will I be assessed?

    There will be internal assessments and internal and external moderation involved.

  • Progression Pathway

    Successful completion of this course could allow you to progress onto our Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling.

    Please be aware that if your long term goal is to work in an area with vulnerable adults or any person under the age of 18, it will be necessary to undergo a disclosure and barring services (DBS) check at your place of employment. If you have a criminal conviction this may exclude you from working in some job roles.
