    Deirdre Dougan

    Job Title: Course Leader – Supporting Teaching & Learning

    My name is Deirdre Dougan and I am the Course Leader for the Level 2 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning and the Level 3 Diploma in Specialist Support for Teaching and Learning in Schools. These courses enable you to work with children and young people in a learning environment, and this is a crucial role as recent research identifies the importance of teaching assistants and stresses the vital contribution they make in the modern classroom. This means that through these courses you are developing your own skills and understanding, alongside a work placement to gain professional practice and you will gain experience supporting children and young people to enable learning and progress to take place

     

    My role at Runshaw

    My role, as well as being Course Leader, and a tutor on these courses, is to work closely with colleagues to promote the effective delivery of the content of each of these qualifications, helping students to gain the necessary knowledge, understanding and awareness of the different aspects of working with children and young people, as well as completing professional practice in a learning environment, to enable their successful achievement of the courses.

    Along with my colleagues, we ensure the quality of the work meets the required standards of the Awarding Bodies, which are ncfe cache for Level 2 and City and Guilds for Level 3.
